What are P&I Surveys?
A P&I survey is a preventative health check for your vessel and its operations. Unlike statutory surveys required by class or flag state, our surveys are tailored to identify risks that directly impact your P&I exposure. Our experienced surveyors conduct thorough inspections and interviews to provide you with actionable recommendations.
Common types of P&I Surveys we offer include:
➢ Pre-entry Surveys: Assessing a vessel's condition and operational standards prior to accepting it into our club or offering insurance terms.
➢ Condition & Risk Management Surveys: Periodic reviews of vessels already entered, focusing on safety management systems, crew competency, and vessel maintenance.
➢ Cargo-Related Surveys: Inspections of holds, hatch covers, and cargo securing arrangements to prevent damage and claims.
➢ Crew Habitability & Safety Surveys: Ensuring living and working conditions meet or exceed international standards to prevent crew illness and injury.
➢ Incident Follow-up Surveys: Investigating the root cause of an incident to prevent recurrence.
Our P&I Survey Process
1. Request & Scoping: You contact us to request a survey. We discuss the scope and objectives to ensure the inspection meets your specific needs.
2. Onboard Inspection: Our surveyor spends a day (or more) onboard, inspecting the vessel, reviewing documentation, and engaging with the master and crew.
3. Detailed Reporting: You receive a comprehensive, confidential report detailing our findings, complete with photographs and clear, prioritized recommendations.
4. Ongoing Support: We don't just hand you a report. We are available to discuss the findings and assist you in developing a plan for implementation.
